Winter solstice  冬至

Winter solstice, as the name implies, means the coming of winter. As an important solar term in the traditional Chinese calendar, what is special on the day? The answer is the daytime lasts the shortest while the night lasts the longest of the year.

Custom  习俗

In Northern China during winter solstice, there is a custom of eating dumplings and wontons. People in southern China will eat sweet dumplings to symbolize the reunion of family.

Make dumplings

In order to inherit the Chinese food culture, at the time of the Winter Solstice, the international students of Liaoning Communication University learned how to make dumplings from the staffs of the canteen.

And then they enjoy the spoils of thire labor with a variety of different condiments. You can dip the dumplings in soy sauce, vinegar, or chili oil. Dumplings are truly delicious!

Stay warm and healthy, and good luck in the coming new year.
