New Requirements for International Students from the Ministry of Education of China

Standards for the Quality of Higher Education for International Students in China (Trial Implementation) is issued by the Ministry of Education of China on Sep.3^rd, 2018. It is the first time that the Ministry of Education of China issued such standard for higher education of international students in China.

The standard clarified the requirements of international students’ education in China: international students studying in China should have general knowledge of Chinese history, geography, society and economy; understand Chinese political system and foreign policy; understand the mainstream values and public morality of Chinese society and have a good legal concept and moral consciousness.

In addition, there are also Chinese language requirements for international students. For international students whose teaching languages are not Chinese, their Chinese should reach Level 4 of Chinese Language Proficiency Scales For Speakers of Other Languages before getting Bachelor degree and Level 3 before getting Master or Doctor degree.
