Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming Visits Equatorial Guinea

On May 12, 2107, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming visited Equatorial Guinea, during which he met with President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Agapito Mba Mokuy, and also initiated the first political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations, practical cooperation and international and regional issues of common concern.

Zhang Ming noted that China and Equatorial Guinea enjoy traditional friendship. In recent years, bilateral relations have enjoyed a sustainable and healthy development, with constantly deepened political mutual trust and fruitful outcomes from practical cooperation in various fields. China is willing to, together with Equatorial Guinea, enhance integration, intensify coordination and cooperation, and deeply implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries as well as the outcomes of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), in a bid to push bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring equal treatment, mutual trust and win-win cooperation for new progress.

The Equatorial Guinean side expressed that the country always firmly upholds a friendly policy towards China. Equatorial Guinea sincerely thanks China for its long-term and precious support for Equatorial Guinea’s economic and social development, and hopes that under the framework of the FOCAC, both sides could further consolidate traditional friendship, expand practical cooperation, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, in a bid to benefit the two countries as well as the two peoples.

During the visit, Zhang Ming also visited Chinese medical team in Equatorial Guinea, and held discussions with Chinese-funded enterprises.
