Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai of Thailand

On May 14, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai of Thailand, who was in China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF).

Wang Yi said that China and Thailand are as close as one family. Both sides always understand and support each other on major international and regional affairs. China appreciates Thailand for supporting the “Belt and Road” initiative since the very beginning. Considering Thailand as an important country along the “Belt and Road”, China is willing to, together with Thailand and the ASEAN, through China-Thailand railway, Lancang-Mekong cooperation and other projects, enhance the integration of development strategies, deepen connectivity, and intensify cooperation during the process of the “Belt and Road” construction, in a bid to further benefit people of the two countries and the region, and promote regional development and prosperity.

Don Pramudwinai expressed that he was very glad to attend the BRF on behalf of Thailand. He also highly appraised President Xi Jinping’s important speech at the opening ceremony. The “Belt and Road” initiative is conducive to advancing globalization and regional connectivity, and it also highly matches with development strategies of Thailand and the ASEAN. Thailand stands ready to continue to actively participate in the “Belt and Road” construction, and wishes this forum a complete success.

Both sides also exchanged views on regional issues of common concern.
