Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed Jibril of Kenya

On May 15, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed Jibril of Kenya in Beijing, who accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to China for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation (BRF).

Wang Yi stated that President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the opening ceremony of the BRF today. He put forward that the "Belt and Road" should be built into a road of peace, prosperity, openness, innovation and civilization, which charts the course for carrying out international cooperation including the deepening of China-Africa cooperation.Kenya is a key country in Africa as well as a pilot and demonstration country of carrying out China-Africa production capacity cooperation. It is believed that Kenya is able to walk at the forefront of other countries in Africa in the joint construction of the "Belt and Road", so as to achieve better and faster development.

Amina Mohamed Jibril expressed that Kenya and China enjoy an all-round strategic cooperative partnership and thanked China for inviting Kenya to attend the BRF. Kenya is greatly inspired by President Xi’s wonderful speech and is willing to actively participate in the "Belt and Road" construction, thus elevating Kenya-China relations to new highs.
